Nebraska Synod Congregations are crocheting and knitting prayer scarves for inmates in the prisons of our companion, the Northern Diocese in Kimangaro Parish, Tanzania, Africa. The scarves are given to inmates as a reminder of Christ's love for them.
Hope has been invited by Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Lincoln, NE. to join them in reaching a goal of 2,000 prayer scarves. You can become a part of this prison ministry in several ways: pray for God's blessing, crochet or knit scarves (48 inches X 10 inches), donate yarn (our African friends like bright colors), or donate toward the purchase of yarn.
Please, pray for the prisoners and their families as you make the scarves. Select one of your favorite patterns and down-size (I've been using a J crochet hook; sc 117 to get my gauge) Tag the scarves with your first name so your effort is more personal. Pass the word to your family and friends. They may need something to do during these long and cold winter nights.
